I know it has been awhile. Like over 6 months. I wish I could say I was busy, but really, I was lazy. And now that I’m on the verge of finally self-publishing a picture book, I realized I should have kept this website up-to-date.

I’ve been researching about marketing self-published books like crazy. Each and every website and blog I have read has said the same thing: Marketing is hard.

I didn’t go to school for marketing and now I wish I did. Marketing is an art form and I’m barely scratching the surface through my research.

As a writer, I thought my only concern was to, you know, write. But with the boom of self-publishing market, I decided it was better to take control and go through this route, too. If I’m going to publish a book myself, I’m going to have to act like my own PR person as well. This is the part I don’t enjoy but it’s also the most important part if I ever want to make a sale.

Here are some of the steps that I’m currently working on and will do in the future:

1) Write a press release.

2) Compile a contact list of all the people I will be sending my press release.

3) Continue updating this website.

4) Social Network!

I can’t really add any insight right now because I’m barely getting started myself. This post was really just me ranting.
